Melanie’s Law in Massachusetts

Melanie’s Bill has changed the face of Drunk Driving laws in Massachusetts. The changes implemented are:

Refusal to submit to a breath test or failure of that breath test no longer issues a 15 day temporary license. Chemical test refusals have been altered so that there no eligibility for a hardship license. The refusal suspensions carry a punishment of: 180 days for a first offense, 3 years for a second offense, 5 years for a third offense. A lifetime for a forth offense. [Read more...]
